CGRG Takes Win Over WKRR
By: Eleanor Whip-Me
On Sunday, July 12th, The Cape Girardeau Roller Girls took on Paducah, Kentucky’s West Kentucky Rockin’ Rollers at the AC Brase Arena in Cape Girardeau. Bouting with WKRR has become a staple in CGRG’s yearly season, having played them many times before. Like most bouts before, this bout proved to be full of action, complete with hard hits, strong blocking and fast paced jams! CGRG took the lead and never let go, taking the win 287-72. Congratulations to Flesner and Meya-Wham, who were chosen as MVP Jammer and Blocker, respectively!
As a 501c4 organization, proceeds from every home game benefit a local charity. However, this was a closed bout, open only to team members and 1 guest each. During the July 25th bout, at halftime, a check for the proceeds from the June 20th game will be donated to KRCU, a local public radio station and NPR affiliate! Proceeds from the July 25th game will benefit The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help make the game a success, and a special thank you to everyone who attended the game! Hope to see you all back at AC Brase Arena on July 25th as CGRG takes on Dark River Derby Coalition from Quincy, Illinois!
