Saturday, June 20th, come check out live roller derby action as the Cape Girardeau Roller Girls hit the track to take on the Prairieland Punishers from Central Illinois! Count on an exciting game full of hard hits and fast action as these two teams fight for the win. These teams last played in August of 2013 when Prairieland took the win with a score of 165 to 109. A lot has changed in 2 years for both teams, and this year it’s anyone’s game. This is a game you don’t want to miss! If that’s not enough derby action for you, stick around for the second game where Prairieland’s B team will take on MO-NOIS, a mashup of skaters from CGRG and the Southern Illinois Roller Girls!
The Cape Girardeau Roller Girls are a 501c4 nonprofit organization, and part of the profits from each home game benefits a local charity. A check will be presented at halftime to the charity from the last home game: Southeast Missouri Angels Pageant. The proceeds from this game will benefit SEMO’s KCRU. Can’t make the game? The purchase of a ticket still helps support this organization!
CGRG’s record currently stands at 2 to 1. CGRG’s first game was away against Central Arkansas Roller Derby, who took the win with a score of 190-171. On May 2nd, CGRG earned a win at home against the Clarksvillains from Clarksville, TN, followed by another win against the Southern Illinois Roller Girls on May 23rd.
Tickets for this game are available at PMAC Music, from a CGRG skater, or online at www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are $7 in advance, $9 at the door, and FREE for kids five and under! Doors open at 5pm, with the first whistle at 6pm! Make sure to check out the concession stand for food, drinks, and beer (must be 21+ to consume alcohol)!
