Cape Girardeau Roller Girls Take Loss to Prairieland Punishers
By: Flesner and Fakin’ Bacon
On Saturday, June 20th, The Cape Girardeau Roller Girls took on Decatur, Illinois’ Prairieland Punishers All Stars at the AC Brase Arena in Cape Girardeau. CGRG last played the Punishers in 2013 where PPRD took the win 165-109. Like in 2013, this year’s game proved to be a hard fought battle loaded with big hits, strong blocking, and exciting jams! CGRG initially took the lead, but in the end fell to the Punishers 113-170. Congratulations to Flesner and Salty, who were chosen as MVP Jammer and Blocker, respectively!
As a 501c4 organization, proceeds from every home game benefit a local charity. At halftime, a check for $400 in proceeds from the May 23rd game was donated to the Southeast Missouri Angels Pageant! Proceeds from the June 20th game will benefit KRCU, a local public radio station! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help make the game a success, and a special thank you to everyone who attended the game! Hope to see you all back at AC Brase Arena on July 25th as CGRG takes on Dark River Derby Coaltion from Quincy, Illinois!
